The Journey
The story behind Aligned Pathway
Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the challenges my brother faced while navigating developmental, behavioral, and mental health needs. I saw how difficult life could become when someone needed understanding, support, and advocacy but did not always receive it. I also saw how easily individuals could be misunderstood or judged by the very systems meant to support them.
Those experiences affected me deeply. At a young age, I didn’t always have the knowledge or ability to advocate the way I wanted to, but they shaped how I viewed people, their circumstances, and the importance of having someone who genuinely cares.
My mother was another major influence in my life. As a social worker and business owner, she dedicated much of her life to helping others. I watched her build relationships with individuals and families, offer encouragement, and make people feel seen and valued. Her compassion wasn’t something she turned on when she went to work. It was simply who she was.
Although my mother is no longer physically here, the example she set continues to influence the work I do today.
My own life hasn’t been without challenges, either. I’ve experienced adversity, made difficult decisions, learned lessons, and had to find my way through circumstances that changed my perspective on life. Those experiences have taught me that we don’t always know what someone has been through, what they are carrying, or what it takes for them to move forward.
As I built my career in human services, working directly with individuals and families and later in leadership and program administration, I began seeing the same challenges from another perspective.
I saw organizations doing meaningful work and making a difference. I also saw what happens when business operations, financial pressures, and organizational priorities begin to overshadow the individuals those programs were created to serve.
I understand that businesses need structure, accountability, compliance, and financial stability. Those things matter. But I also believe that compassion and quality of care should never get lost in the process.
That belief became the foundation of Aligned Pathway Behavioral Health Consulting.
I created Aligned Pathway to support the organizations that support people. My goal is to help providers develop strong programs, navigate challenges, strengthen their operations, and create environments where individuals feel respected, supported, and given a genuine opportunity to grow.
I don’t believe every person will have the same journey or achieve the same outcome. But I do believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity and to have an experience that can make a positive difference in their life.
For me, this work has always been about more than policies, procedures, or regulatory requirements. It’s about understanding the responsibility that comes with serving people, particularly during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
I believe we can build successful organizations without losing the compassion that made us want to help people in the first place.
And that is what I hope to contribute through Aligned Pathway.
““I believe we can build successful organizations without losing the compassion that made us want to help people in the first place.””
